Titans bite Bulldogs

After a sweep of Hart County on Tuesday, the North Oconee tennis teams travel to Hoschton today to take on 5-A Mill Creek.

The boys and girls tennis teams swept host Hart County on Tuesday.  The Lady Titans improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in Region 8-AA, and won at all five positions over the Lady Bulldogs starting at No. 1 singles with Becca Bruning 6-0, 6-1.  Amber Hudson followed suit at No. 2 6-1, 6-0, and Mary Campbell Cobb handled No. 3 6-1, 6-2.  In doubles action, Alex Barone and Abby Bruning handled their opponents 6-3, 6-0 at No.1, and the duo of Lana Livesay and Cammi Shaffer came from behind to win at No. 2 by a score of 5-7, 8-6, 6-2.          

For the 5-1 Titans , Peter Bertran led off with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, followed by Ray Donovan at No. 2 6-2, 6-0, and Jeff Bautista at No. 3 6-0, 6-1.  Helping to improve the Titans’ region record to 3-0 were the No. 1 doubles team of seniors Stevie Hemerlein and Seth Taylor who won 6-0, 6-2, and the No. 2 doubles tandem of Chris Saucier and David Sloan who outlasted their Bulldog opponents 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.

North Oconee travels to Hoschton on Wednesday to take on 5-A Mill Creek, and will host 5-A Grayson on Thursday at 4 p.m.
