School Board Congratulates Lady Warrior Softball Team

Oconee County High School won the 2011 AAA State Championship, the eighth in the school's history.

Earlier this week the Oconee County Board of Education recognized the Lady Warrior Softball Team for winning the 2011 AAA State Championship.

The Lady Warriors finished the season 38-2 and won 33 consecutive games after starting the season 5-2. OCHS recorded 27 shutouts and outscored opponents 316-28 during the season, according to the school district's website.

"I could not be prouder of these girls," Principal Sheila Beckham. "I will have to say this is probably one of the most exciting things that I have done in a long time as a principal."

Team members are Ashley Benton, Eliza Boswell, Mattie Daughtry, Brianna Dickens, McCall Faulkner, Geri Ann Glasco, Caitlyn Glenn, Brooke Hicks, Bridget Meeler, Jessica Patridge, Courtney Poole, Savannah Stoker, Brianna Strickland and Molly White.  The team is coached by Bryan Eades, Kasey Knight, Cindy Roach and Matt Stephens.

"I would like to thank coach Eades for his leadership with this team as well as the rest of his coaching staff," Beckham said.  "And our three seniors who are going on to play ball at the next level -- thank you for leadership on the team both on the field and off.  Y'all are a great group of girls."
