OCHS Tennis Advances to Region Semis

The Lady Warriors play Lanier in the semi-finals Friday morning at 10 a.m. and the Warriors play the Gainesville - Chestatee winner at 11:30 Friday morning.

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA   The Oconee County Warriors girls and boys tennis teams, coasted to easy second round wins Thursday afternoon, both blanking their opponents 3-0 to advance to Friday's semi-final round of the Region 8-AAA
tennis tournament. The wins allowed the Warrior girls and boys teams, both
number one seeds, to keep their 8-AAA region records unblemished for the
season, and each improve to 13-0. 

The Lady Warriors picked up strong wins from number one and number two
singles and at two doubles to sweep the West Hall Lady Spartans 3-0 and pickup the second round win. Jordan England led the way, winning 6-1, 6-0 at number one, while Katy Kane also gave up only a single game to dismiss her opponent quickly with a 6-0, 6-1 straight set win. The number two doubles tandem of Ivy Do and Megan Morris won 6-3, 6-3 to produce the winning point that clinched for the Lady Warriors. The Lady Warriors' number one doubles duo of Kimberly Case and Macy Bird were up, and number three singles player
Caroline McElhannon was within one game of a straight set blanking at 6-0, 5-0 when the match was called in favor of OCHS.

The win over West Hall improved the Lady Warriors overall record to 16-3 for
the year. The Lady Warriors play Lanier in the semi-finals Friday morning at
10am. 

Meanwhile, the OCHS Warrior boys team won at number one and two singles and at number one doubles to blank the White County Warriors 3-0 and also
advance to the semi-final round of the Region 8-AAA tournament. Will
McDonald won at number one singles 6-0, 6-0. OCHS senior Sam Ondo also won at number two singles by a 6-0, 6-1 score. The number one doubles team of Zach Miner and Drew Horsely cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory to grab the
clinching third point. The remaining Warriors on the court at the time OCHS
clinched, (number three singles player Conner Smith and the number two doubles of Dan Madden and Hunter Pritchard), were also ahead in their two matches. The win gave the Warriors their 17th win for the season, versus only three setbacks.


The Warriors play the Gainesville - Chestatee winner at 11:30 Friday morning.
