Katherine Frank: The Composure of A Veteran Golfer

Katherine Frank, a senior golfer at Oconee County High School, has learned to deal with the silence and excitement of the game of golf by keeping her composure.

Although the game of golf is notorious for the silence that surrounds the playing field, it is this same silence that players have to combat to avoid being overwhelmed with quietude.

Katherine Frank, a senior golfer at Oconee County High School, has learned to cope with the noiselessness of the crowd, as spectators look on with eager stares and muted cheers.

Frank’s coach, Michael Youngblood, says her “composure” is Frank’s best attribute on the green.

The combination of calmness along with the ability to block out not only the noise, but also the silence has led Frank to a successful golf career.

Along with obtaining her sense of composure, Frank has shown she knows that practice makes perfect, and that she has the determination of a true competitor.

“Katherine has worked extremely hard to become a great golfer,” Youngblood said.

With up to 14 clubs to choose from, golfers often times find they have a go-to club that they believe harbors the power of their game. 

According to Youngblood, Frank’s strength and go-to club is her driver.

With the composure of a veteran player and the strength of her driver, it is no surprise that Frank has been a standout golfer throughout her career.
