University of North Georgia Names Acting CEO for Oconee Campus

Dr. Eric Skipper has been appointed to the post.

A new acting chief executive officer has been named for the University of North Georgia's Oconee Campus.

Dr. Eric Skipper has been appointed to a post vacated by Dr. Margaret Venable, who now serves as provost at Gordon State College in Barnesville, Ga.

"I am sure that Eric's proven leadership, together with the valuable relationships he has built over the years through his community involvement as an Oconee County resident, will serve our Oconee Campus well in the months ahead," Dr. Al M. Panu, senior vice president for university affairs, said in a news release written by Edie Rogers.

According to the release, Skipper held several administrative positions at the former Gainesville State College, including acting assistant vice president for academic enrichment and dean of humanities and fine arts. While leading the UNG's Oconee Campus, Skipper will retain his position as dean of honors and graduate studies.

"I look forward to using my academic and leadership experiences to serve the very talented faculty and staff at the Oconee Campus," Skipper said in the release.
