Tom Odom wins Oconee School Board Chairman's Race

Odom defeats Mike Hunter, who left his School Board seat to run for chairman.

Retired Oconee County principal has been elected chairman of the Oconee County Board of Education, according to unofficial returns.

Odom defeated current board Vice Chairman Mike Hunter, who in order to run for chairman. Mike Burnette was unopposed in the open Post 4 seat.

With 13 of 13 precincts reporting, Odom took 54 percent of the vote -- 4,643 votes to Hunter's 3,931.
