The cost would be a flat fee of $8,000 plus the expense for a consultant to travel from Buford to Oconee County 3-4 times, Sampson had said.

The GSBA has been involved in more than 225 superintendent searches during the last 20 years, he said.

The Board's 5-0 decision to enlist the services of the GSBA was made following an executive session Monday, administrative assistant Deborah Epps confirmed. Board member Wayne Bagley made the motion which was seconded by member Mark Thomas. There was no discussion, she said.

“We are pleased to have GSBA come alongside and help us with this very important process,” Chairman David Weeks said in a released statement Tuesday. “They have a proven track record of conducting high quality searches, and after considering all our options the board was unanimous in going with a proven performer.”

A representative of the GSBA will meet with the board to lay out the parameters of the search in a called meeting Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m., according to a news release.
