OCHS Tennis - 24-0!!!

2012 OCHS Girls and Boys Tennis, undefeated in Region 8-AAA regular season, with 12-0 records each!

Coach Dan Gruetter's 2012 edition of Oconee County Warrior tennis produced a small milestone Tuesday, shutting out Monroe Area 5-0 on both sides, girls and boys, which resulted in a perfect combined regular season 8-AAA region record of 24-0. Both girls and boys teams completed regular season region play 12-0, while getting two of their last three region wins on the road versus Gainesville and West Hall, both traditionally strong tennis programs.

The young Lady Warriors gave up only one point all afternoon against Monroe Area, as they escalated their overall record to 14-2 for the season. The emerging young singles trio of freshman Jordan England and sophomores Katy Kane and Caroline McElhannon overpowered the Purple Hurricanes lady netters in singles play, each producing identical 6-0, 6-0 shutout wins. The duo of Kimberly Case and Macy Bird, both juniors, also won strong at number one doubles 6-1, 6-0, while the number two Lady Warrior doubles team of freshmen Megan Morris and Ivy Do won by forfeit, to cap the 5-0 win.

On the boys side, the Warriors gave up a total of only two games as they had little trouble taking care of business and blanking the Purple Hurricanes 5-0. The win gave the Warrior boys their 15th overall win of the season, versus only one setback against LaGrange, at the Jekyll Jam earlier this month.

The Warrior boys doubles also breezed to victory as both blanked their foes from Monroe 6-0, 6-0. Zach Miner and Drew Horsely won at number one doubles, while Hunter Pritchard and Dan Madden tacked on the Warriors' fifth win at number two doubles.

After the match Hunter Pritchard commented, "I'm just really happy we clinched the 1 seed for our region, and I'm glad to be on this team because we've gotten really close this year. Being able to contribute is awesome this season and I'm looking forward to the region tournament."
