Newsweek Names North Oconee and Oconee County High Top Public Schools

Both schools are included in the 2012 list of America's Best High Schools.

and have earned national recognition with their inclusion in Newsweek Magazine's America's Best High Schools.

OCHS ranked 728th out of 1,000.Β  NOHS came in at 901st.

The Oconee schools were two of only 28 Georgia schools named to the list of America's Best in 2012.

According to the magazine's article, scores were tabulated based on the following:

  • Graduation rate (25%)
  • College matriculation rate (25%)
  • AP tests taken per graduate (25%)
  • Average SAT/ACT scores (10%)
  • Average AP/IB/AICE scores (10%)
  • AP courses offered (5%)

In 2011, the list included only the top 500 schools, and OCHS ranked 420th.Β  Both Oconee high schools were included in the 2010 list, which ranked the top 1,600. That year, NOHS was number 1016 and OCHS ranked 1375.
