Local Barnes & Noble 'My Favorite Teacher' Award Goes to North Oconee Educator

Jeanette Phillips was nominated by a 12th grade student.

A math teacher from North Oconee High School has been selected as this year's winner of the Athens-area Barnes & Noble "My Favorite Teacher" Contest.

According to an article in the Athens Banner-Herald, NOHS senior Bailey Shea wrote in an essay nominating Jeanette Phillips that her math grades dramatically improved after meeting the educator as a freshman.

The pair was recognized Monday at the local store, the newspaper reported, and Phillips now advances to next level of the competition.
