Interested in Serving on the School Board? Post 4 Is Coming Vacant

The board will appoint a replacement for outgoing member Mike Burnette.

At a special session on November 18, the Oconee County Board of Education adopted the process for appointing a successor to Post 4 Board Member Mike Burnette, who is resigning effective December 31, 2013. The board invites interested persons to apply.

Applications will be accepted from now until December 18. On January 6, 2014, at a work session, the Board will share a list of candidates. A week later, at a regular school board meeting, the Post 4 applicants will each has 3 minutes to introduce themselves. 

On January 28th, the board will name the finalist or finalists for the position. There will be a special session on February 10, the board will interview the finalists or finalist for the Post 4 seat.

To be considered for appointment, one must have the qualifications necessary to run for Public Office in Georgia. One must be a citizen of the state of Georgia, must have been a resident of Oconee County for at least 12 months preceding this appointment, and must be a qualified voter in Oconee County.
