Go Build Georgia Teams at NOHS and OCHS Assist Students with Career Decisions

For organizing Go Build Georgia High School teams at both North Oconee High and Oconee County High, the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development Wednesday recognized Oconee County Schools.

According to a news release, teams are comprised of educators, counselors and business leaders spanning across five key high-growth industry sectors including:  manufacturing, industrial construction, energy, telecommunications and transportation industries, with the goal of promoting career paths in the skilled trades.

The teams will share data and informational resources with students and parents to assist in making informed career decisions.

Superintendent Dr. Jason Branch referred to the initiative as "an exciting opportunity."

"OCS is demonstrating a clear commitment to provide more hands-on learning that relates traditional classroom preparation to the jobs of tomorrow," he said in a released statement. "This real-world approach is good for our community and our students.”  

The Go Build Georgia High School team project has a goal to establish a team in at least 168 high schools across Georgia by the end of this school year.
