2012 Oconee County Schools Teacher of the Year Named

North Oconee High School social studies teacher Miriam Ledford-Lyle accepted the award at a banquet on Thursday.

A social studies teacher who has served since 2004 has been named the 2012 Oconee County Schools Teacher of the Year.

The announcement that Miriam Ledford-Lyle was selected for the top district honor came at a banquet sponsored by the Oconee County High Schools Alumni Association, according to a news release. The dinner was held at the Oconee County Civic Center Thursday night.

She was chosen by a committee comprised of last year's award winners.

Ledford-Lyle will now advance and compete at the state level. One deserving educator will ultimately be named the National Teacher of the Year.

All 10 school-level Teachers of the Year were recognized at the banquet.  .
