Retired Army Sergeant Major Joins Race for Seat on Board of Commissioners

Mark Saxon is running for Post 4, The Oconee Enterprise reports.

He's never run for public office before, but Mark Saxon recently told The Oconee Enterprise, "I just feel it's the right time to commit."

The retired Army sergeant major is running for Post 4 of the Board of Commissioners and says he has been paying attention to issues and wants to see an increase in construction in the county, the newspaper reports.

A lifelong resident of the county, Saxon's a married father of two sons, according to the article.

According to previous reports, Chuck Horton, who currently occupies the post, will run for chairman, leaving it vacant.
