One-time Bonuses Approved for County Employees

The Oconee County Board of Commissioners approved critical needs recommendations at their meeting on Tuesday.

Oconee County employees will receive a padded paycheck this month.

Commissioners approved one-time bonuses at their meeting on Tuesday as part of the consent agenda.  There was no discussion before the vote.

County Administrator Alan Theriault presented the bonuses as part of a at the Dec. 20 work session, according to minutes from the meeting.

The bonuses will reflect on the Jan. 13 payroll for employees hired on or before Jan 1, 2011.

Here is the breakdown:

  • $1,250 for full-time employees earning less than $40,000
  • $1,000 for full-time employees earning more than $40,000
  • $500 for regular part-time employees working 20 hours or more per week
  • $150 for seasonal or part-time employees working at least 10 hours per week

Elected officials, those being paid on a per-diem basis, those receiving supplements, or occasional fill-in part-time employees will not receive bonuses.

The list of critical needs recommendations also included $160,000 for the Sheriff's Office to replace vehicles; $160,000 for Public Works to replace vehicles and road repair equipment; and $33,200 to the Fire Department for gear, station repairs and damaged rescue truck replacement.
