Oconee Today -- July 31

Primary election day has arrived. Check back with Oconee Patch throughout the day and at the close of the polls for results.

Weather: The Weather Channel predicts variable clouds and a 60 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms throughout the day. Highs will be in the mid 80s.  Overnight, the low will drop to around 70 degrees.

Top things to know:

  • Nearly 16 percent of eligible Oconee County voters cast ballots in advance of the primary. How many will turn out today?  Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  To find out to which precinct you are assigned, visit the MyVoter page. Sample ballots may also be found on the website.   • Kids of all ages are invited to a special back to school Storytime at the Oconee County Library.  The free event starts at 10:30 a.m. and features stories and crafts.
  • The Tour at Two will feature works from the Permanent Collection.  The tour, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., is free but a donation is suggested.
