Happy Friday! Major development news seems to be on the horizon.

Weather: The work week comes to a close with a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the mid 60s.  The National Weather Service cloudy skies overnight and lows in the mid 40s.

Top things to know:

  • The Board of Commissioners has called an 8 a.m. meeting to discuss real estate aquisition and development.  The Board is scheduled to meet with the Oconee County Development Authority at 2 p.m. Meantime, both commissioners and the industrial authority in Athens have been busy with called meetings.  What do you suppose is in the works?
  • Bank South is celebrating its one-year anniversary in its Watkinsville location -- 7911 Macon Highway-- with cupcakes. From 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., all are invited to stop by for a sweet treat!
  • It's the final day to swing by Watkinsville City Hall and pick up a free trip whip.  The City is giving them away in celebration of Georgia's Arbor Day, which is today. 
  • The Athens Academy sixth grade boys' basketball team hosts Madison County in a battle for the Premier League Title.  The game gets under way at 8:30 p.m. at the Spartan Center.
