Last Day to Vote Early is Friday

Nov. 4 is also the final day to request absentee ballots.

Time is ticking away for voters wishing to cast ballots ahead of Tuesday's Election Day. The advanced voting period closes on Friday.

Countywide voters are deciding whether a 1-cent should continue for .

To vote early on the E-SPLOST referendum or request an absentee ballot, go to the before 5 p.m. on Nov. 4.

In Watkinsville, voters will elect a new mayor.  Registered voters can cast their ballot for or early at through 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 4.

In Bogart, the will sit on the city council. Two incumbents, Ralph Sheridan and TL Turman, are pitted against Turman's wife, Linda.

As of 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, 231 votes had been cast electronically for the E-SPLOST referendum, said Pat Hayes, chair of the Board of Elections and Registration.  Another 40 absentee ballots had been mailed out, she added.

There are around 22,000 registered voters in the county, Hayes said, including both active and inactive voters.

One hundred twenty votes had been cast in Watkinsville as of early Thursday afternoon, or just over 7 percent of the total 1,687 registered voters.  Two absentee ballots sent out hadn't yet been returned, city clerk Julie Sanders said.

Only one absentee ballot had been requested in Bogart, city clerk Diane Craft said. Registered voters may request a ballot through 4 p.m. on Friday.

On Nov. 8, voters will head to their assigned polling places to vote from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
