Kemp Sets Georgia Presidential Primary for Super Tuesday

Georgians will head to the polls for a Presidential Primary on Tuesday, March 6, 2012.

Georgia's Presidential Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, March, 6, 2012, also known as Super Tuesday.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp made the announcement at a Thursday morning news conference.  Legislation passed by the General Assembly this year gave him the authority to set the date.

Georgia joins Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and Virginia, among other states, which have all set primaries for Super Tuesday.

Kemp said the decision protects the interests of Georgia voters. 

"We ensure that the voices of Georgia voters are heard and that they will be relevant in the presidential nominating process," he remarked.

Kemp also urged all presidential nominees to visit Georgia and its 76 delegates.
