Gov. Deal Appoints Sheriff Scott Berry to Criminal Justice Coordinating Council

The Governor's Office of Georgia announced the appointment on Friday.

Update Feb. 3, 2012: Sheriff Berry has received his assignment.  He will serve on the Executive Committee and will chair the Research and Evaluation Subcommittee.

 

Oconee County will serve on the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC).

The Governor's Office announced Berry's appointment on Friday.

According to georgia.gov, the CJCC serves as the statewide clearinghouse for criminal justice information and research; develops criminal justice legislative and executive policy proposals; and serves in an advisory capacity to the Governor on issues impacting the criminal justice system.

"I want to thank Governor Nathan Deal for appointing me to a voting member position on the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council," Berry wrote on his Facebook page. "I have not received my committee assignment yet, but I expect to receive it soon."
