Economic Development Officials and Prospective Investors to Tour Oconee, Athens-Clarke Counties

The two-day tour, Perspective on Progress, will be held on May 3-4.

Seven local agencies are working together on an economic outreach project designed for economic development officials and prospective investors to tour potential sites for investment and development in Oconee and Athens-Clarke Counties.

Perspective on Progress, a two-day familiarization tour, is planned for May 3-4, according to a news release.

The agencies that have been brainstorming the event for the last six months include Athens-Clarke County Industrial Development Authority, the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, the Athens-Clarke County Economic Development Foundation, the Oconee County Industrial Development Authority, the , the Oconee County Economic Development Foundation and the University of Georgia. Area businesses are also supporting the effort, the news release stated.

“This is the next, crucial step in terms of regional collaboration for our two communities,” Jon Williams, the president of Williams & Associates, said in a released statement. Williams is one of the organizers of the tour. “From the start, this has been focused on working together to show off the wonderful assets throughout Athens-Clarke and Oconee counties and being proactive in promoting what we have to offer.”
