Early Voting to Start Wednesday

Advanced voting starts Wednesday for the June 21 Georgia House District 113 .

Three Republicans -- Alan Alexander, Sarah Bell, and Chuck Williams-- are vying for the seat along with Democrat Dan Matthews.

At the Oconee County Board of Elections Office, workers were busy preparing electronic voting machines on Tuesday, administrative assistant Carole Amos said.

Registered voters may cast ballots Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  until the advanced voting period concludes on June 17.

Amos said the Board of Elections Office expects paper ballots to arrive from the state on Friday, and will begin sending absentee ballots to those who have requested them soon.  Absentee ballots must be submitted by the close of the polls on Election Day.  Ballots from military personnel must be received by Friday, June 24.

On June 21, polls will be open from 7 a.m until 7 p.m.

Amos reminds Oconee voters that while advanced voting takes place at the Elections office, on Election Day they must vote at their assigned precincts.  There are 13 precincts in Oconee, and voters can check which one they should report to by either calling the Elections office at 706-769-3958 or visiting the Secretary of State's website, My Voter Page.

A citizens-led candidate forum will take place on at the Oconee County Library and the Oconee County is sponsoring a forum on at North Oconee High School.

All of Oconee, Southern Clarke, and portions of Oglethorpe and Morgan counties make up House District 113.
