Oconee County is participating in a free discount prescription drug card program.

At Tuesday's meeting, the Oconee County Board of Commissioners learned that a customized, localized website for the National Association of Counties Prescription Discount Card program will launch on  April 14.

The no-cost "discount card program can save residents an average of 24 percent off of the full retail cost of prescription medications that are not covered under a traditional insurance plan, as well as some diabetic supplies," according to the NACo website.  Information will be distributed throughout the county at pharmacies and various government businesses.
