Campaign and Other Signs Swiped From Watkinsville Yards

Police recover the stolen signs outside of the city limits.

More than a dozen campaign signs were stolen from Watkinsville yards overnight Monday, Oct. 17 to Tuesday, Oct. 18, city police report.

The signs were removed from several locations around town including New High Shoals Road, Harden Hill Road, and Jackson Street, Police Chief Lee O'Dillon said in a news release.

Fourteen signs supporting for Mayor of Watkinsville and two signs bearing the name of , a candidate in the same race, were reportedly taken, he said. Each was valued at around $20.

Acting on a tip, officers recovered the stolen campaign signs late Wednesday, Oct. 19, at a location outside of the city, O'Dillon said in the release.

A sign for the and several yard sale and garage sale signs were also located.

The theft investigation is ongoing, O'Dillon noted.
