Window Broken and Multiple Items Stolen at VFW Address

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville police department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A window was broken and someone reached inside a VFW address to unlock a door on Wednesday evening, May 30. Items reported stolen included several guns and jewelry. A list of items missing was entered into the national computer system. One person has been questioned in the case and the investigation is on-going.

O'Dillon recapped some of the other incidents that police responded to during the week ending on June 3:

  • On Wednesday, May 30 a 2005 Toyota Solara was bumped from behind by a 2011 Kia. The incident took place on Experiment Station Road near the Oconee County Library. There were no injuries and minor damage was reported. Apparently the Toyota was stopped by traffic when a vehicle in front of the line was attempting to make a left turn.
  • Sunday, June 3 at 2:26 a.m. police observed a 1995 Dodge Ram cross the center line on North Main Street. The vehicle continued to run off the edge of the highway. Police stopped the truck where the driver was found to be "extremely intoxicated." The driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to maintain lane and driving with a suspended license. The driver's license had been suspended since 1985 and the driver was booked into the Oconee County Jail.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 30 calls within city limits during the week ending on Sunday, June 3, 2012.
