Watkinsville Woman Robbed in Car at Gunpoint in Athens

It happened in the area of Chesterton Drive near Acadia Drive Saturday when she pulled over to check if her car had a flat tire, Athens-Clarke County Police report.

A 31-year-old Watkinsville woman was robbed at gunpoint Saturday in Athens while en route to take one of her son’s friends to another friend’s house around 9 p.m., the Athens Banner-Herald reports.

The woman had pulled over to see if her car had a flat tire in the area of Chesterton Drive near Acadia Drive.  According to an Athens-Clarke County police news release, a rear-seat passenger got out of the vehicle to check.

While the car was stopped, two black males approached, police reported.  One allegedly opened the passenger door and climbed inside, then pointed a pistol at the woman and demanded money.

The robber took the victim’s wallet, which contained cash, personal papers and credit cards. He was described as light-skinned, wearing a camouflage hooded jacket and blue basketball shorts, the release stated.

The woman was not injured during the incident.
