Watkinsville Police Investigating Residential Burglaries

Burglars recently broke into homes on South Third and Morrison streets.

Burglars targeted two Watkinsville homes last week and made off with various electronic equipment, according to Police Chief Lee O'Dillon.

At 4 p.m. on Monday, March 25, police were called to a South Third Street address after the resident returned home and realized that someone had broken into the house, a news release stated. A side door had been pried open and the interior of the house had been searched and ransacked.

Three flat screen televisions, a laptop computer, an X-Box, and a Wii were stolen. There was no alarm system in place and neighbors did not notice any unusual activity at the house, O'Dillon noted.

Also under investigation is the burglary of a Morrison Street residence. O'Dillon said the resident returned home around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, and found that someone had kicked the back door open and stolen several items.

Two flat screen televisions, an iPad, and a cell phone were taken, O'Dillon said. Police have the model and serial numbers of the stolen items.
