Watkinsville Police Investigate Three Car Accidents

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville police department.

In his weekly news release, Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending June 12.

  • Officers investigated a hit and run of a 2000 Volkswagen Beetle that had been parked on Court Street on June 9. The car sustained minor damage and the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene before police arrived.
  • Around 7 p.m. on June 7, a 2008 Mercedes rolled from a residential driveway across VFW Drive and struck a 2008 Ford Fusion parked on the other side of the road. Both cars and a house were damaged, but no injuries were reported.
  • On the morning of June 7, officers investigated a two-car accident on Highway 15 at Barnett Shoals Road involving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier and a 2000 Mazda MPV Wagon.Β  An 18-year-old Lawrenceville resident was cited with failure to yield to the right of way, O'Dillon reported.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 29 calls within city limits between Monday, June 6 and Sunday, June 12.
