Watkinsville Police Detain Fugitive During Traffic Stop

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

A Bogart man wanted on a number of charges in multiple counties was arrested Aug. 16 in Watkinsville after police pulled him over on McRee Street for an expired tag.

The man allegedly "became combative, and attempted to run away" but was captured, according to a news release issued by Watkinsville Police Chief Lee O'Dillon.

Johnathan Andrew Norris, 26, formerly of Virgil Langford Road, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and an expired tag, O'Dillon reported.

A computer check revealed that Norris was wanted on various charges by authorities in Barrow, Jackson, Madison, and Cherokee counties, he noted in the release. Additional theft charges are also pending in Watkinsville and Oconee, he added.

Norris was booked and then turned over to Madison County authorities, O'Dillon said.
