Watkinsville Police Charge Teen With DUI, Failure to Yield to Pedestrian

Watkinsville Police stopped the driver of a 2004 Volvo S-40 on Main Street on Saturday, July 21, around 9:15 a.m. after they say the driver failed to stop for a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the street. 

According to a news release from Police Chief Lee O'Dillon, Alejandro Perezreynoso, 19, of Lawrenceville, was charged with DUI under 21 and failure to yield to the right of way of a pedestrian. Perezreynoso was booked into the Oconee County Jail and later released after posting bond, he said.

O'Dillon also recapped some of the other incidents that police responded to during the week ending on July 22:

• Wednesday morning, July 18, police arrested Terrence M. Ford, 47, of Athens, on a Municipal Court Probation Violation warrant. The warrant alleges that Ford failed to report to his probation officer after a suspended driver's license conviction in City Court.

• At 11:50 a.m. on July 18, officers were called to Experiment Station Road near AmeriPride after a 2012 Kia Optima was hit from behind by a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander. Neither driver was injured. A 51-year-old Watkinsville woman was charged with following too closely.

• Police were called to Cedar Hill Circle around 9:30 p.m. on July 19 after a 30-year-old woman reported that she and her estranged husband were in a heated argument. The husband fled the apartment before police arrived.

• A Friday afternoon traffic stop landed an Athens Man in jail. Tony Nix, 34, was stopped and issued a seat belt violation ticket. A computer check revealed that the Arcade Police Department had a warrant for his arrest for an outstanding traffic violation. Nix was taken into custody and booked into the Oconee County Jail awaiting pick-up by Arcade.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 33 calls within city limits between July 16 and July 22.
