Watkinsville Police Blotter: Parked Taurus Entered and Vandalized

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

In his weekly news release, Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending Jan. 22.

  • On Thursday, Jan. 20, police took a report of a 2000 Ford Taurus having been broken into while it was parked on North Main Street. The car's owner, a Winterville man, advised that he had permission to leave the car at his friend's house but when he returned the car had been damaged. The ignition switch had been removed and the center console was torn out of the interior.
  • Late Sunday afternoon, Jan. 22, officers received a report of a suspicious person in the parking lot behind the . A computer check revealed that Jonathan Curtis Williams, 20, of Arnoldsville, was wanted for probation violation by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Department in Augusta. Williams was arrested and booked into the Oconee County Jail to await pick-up by Richmond County.
  • On Sunday evening, a 2003 Kia Rio left rain-soaked Experiment Station Road and crashed into the ditch near AmeriPride. The 80-year-old driver from Bishop was not injured.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 28 calls within city limits between Monday, Jan.17  and Sunday, Jan. 22.
