Watkinsville Police Blotter: Hit-and-Run Destroys Mailboxes

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville Police Department.

In his weekly news release, Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending Dec. 18.

  • Just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, police were called to Whitehall Road at Main Street after a 2001 Honda Civic was bumped from behind by a 2003 Audi. No one was injured and only minor damage was reported.
  • Around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, Dec. 14, a 1974 V.W. Beetle skidded into the back of a 2009 BMW on Experiment Station Road at Water Street. No one was injured. A 46-year-old man was cited with following too closely.
  • On Sunday, Dec. 18, neighbors reported that a vehicle had struck and destroyed some mailboxes along Hight Drive. The offending vehicle fled the scene.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 29 calls within city limits between Monday, Dec. 12 and Sunday, Dec. 18.
