Watkinsville Police Make Warrant Arrest

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville, Ga. police department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

In his weekly news release, Watkinsville Police Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending on Sept. 16:

  • At 3:40 p.m. on Sept. 10, a city police officer spotted a passenger in a 2001 Ford Taurus who had an outstanding arrest warrant. After the car stopped at a local business, Ray Lee McDaniel, 26, of Winterville,  was arrested on an Oconee County probation violation charge. McDaniel was booked into the Oconee County Jail.
  • Just after midnight Wednesday, Sept. 12, police stopped a 2004 Dodge Durango leaving the Briars subdivision off Norton Road. A computer check revealed that the driver had a suspended driver's license. Brian Keith Martin, 27, of Watkinsville, was booked and later released after posting bond.
  • Police were called to a VFW Drive address around 11 p.m. last Thursday, Sept. 13, where an intoxicated 44-year-old Athens woman was refusing to leave a residence at the request of the homeowner. Police stood by until a friend from picked her up.
  • Sunday, Sept. 16 at 8:15 p.m., police responded to a domestic situation at a VFW Drive apartment address. One person had already left the residence but was continuing to call and send text messages to the resident. Police contacted the 31-year-old man from Athens and advised him to stop contacting the woman.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 29 calls within city limits between Sept. 10 and Sept. 16.
