Watkinsville Police: Cadillac Strikes Deer

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville, Ga., Police Department.

The driver of a 1997 Cadillac DeVille struck a deer on North Main Street at Thrasher Drive Wednesday, May 16 around 5:45 a.m. Major damage was done to the car but the driver was not injured, according to Watkinsville Police Chief Lee O'Dillon.

In his weekly news release, O'Dillon recapped some of the other incidents that police responded to during the week ending on May 20:

  • At 7:45 p.m., on Tuesday, May 15, police stopped the driver of a 2005 Dodge Durango for traveling at a high rate of speed on North Main Street. A computer check revealed that the operator's license was suspend. A 40-year-old Augusta woman was charged with speeding and driving on a suspended license.
  • Police were called to North Main Street at Experiment Station Road after a 2006 Acura TL drove into the side of a 1997 Dodge Dakota on Thursday, May 17 around 8 a.m. Neither driver was injured. A Cedar Hill Circle woman, 42, was charged with failure to yield to the right of way.
  • Officers accompanied medical units to a domestic situation at a Hight Drive address on Saturday, May 19 just before 11 p.m. A 30-year-old man was complaining of back pain after falling out of a wheel chair during an argument with family members over money. The man was transported to a local hospital to be checked. No charges have been filed.
