Watkinsville Police Ask Man to Stop Contacting Ex

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville, Ga. police department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

Watkinsville Police responded to a VFW Drive apartment address Sunday at 2:30 p.m. where a 31-year-old Athens man was telephoning and texting his former girlfriend. According to Police Chief Lee O'Dillion, the woman had told the man not to contact her anymore. Police contacted the man and advised him to stop the harassment or face possible charges, O'Dillon noted in a news release.

In his weekly news release, O'Dillon recapped some of the other incidents that police responded to during the week ending on Sept. 23:

  • At 2 a.m. Sunday police stopped a 2005 Honda Accord on Experiment Station Road near VFW Drive after observing the car drive across the yellow center line. After failing sobriety testing William Edward Terrell, Jr., 36, of Jacksonville, Florida was charged with DUI and improper lane usage.  Terrell was booked and later released after posting bond.
  • Police were called to a Hight Drive address around 1:45 Sunday afternoon after a 39-year-old man traveled from Athens to argue with a resident about money owed to him. The resident requested the man leave. The Athens man was also issued a citation for having an expired tag on his 2004 Dodge Ram pick-up.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 29 calls within city limits between Sept. 17 and Sept. 23. Other calls consisted of burglar alarm calls, suspicious persons calls, suspicious vehicle calls, and neighborhood complaints.
