Officers responded to a traffic accident with injuries and answered numerous calls related to the severe thunderstorms.

In his weekly press release, Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending March 27.

  • Police and medical units were dispatched to an accident on Experiment Station Road near the at 4:10 p.m. on March 24.  One car was overturned and the driver was injured.  Both vehicles sustained heavy damage. Traffic was diverted for a short time.  One driver was cited with failure to yield the right of way, O'Dillon said.
  • Severe thunderstorms were blamed for minor flooding issues, setting off burglar alarms and damaging trees.  A house on New High Shoals Road was struck by lightning and , O'Dillon reported.  No one was injured in any of the weather-related incidents, he added.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 36 calls within city limits between Monday, March 21  and Sunday, March 27, O'Dillon said.
