In his weekly news release, Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending March 20.

• On March 14 at 1:25 a.m., officers responded to Highway 15 near Jerry Smith Drive where the driver of an SUV struck a large deer.  There was some damage to the vehicle, but no injuries, O'Dillon said.
• Police investigated a traffic accident without injuries on March 18 shortly after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and School Street, O'Dillon reported. Officers said traffic congestion was a factor in the accident.
• After receiving several complaints of disorderly, intoxicated person on South Main Street about 3:30 p.m. on March 19, police made one arrest.  Louis Walter Beavers, 53, of Highway 441 South was arrested and charged with public drunkenness, O'Dillon said.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 28 calls within city limits between Monday, March 14  and Sunday, March 20, O'Dillon said.
