Watkinsville PD Blotter

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville police department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

In his weekly news release, Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week Aug. 28.

  • On Aug. 24 at 8:15 a.m., a southbound 1991 Toyota Land Cruiser was struck from behind by a 2002 Ford Ranger on Highway 15 near the railroad tracks. A line of traffic had stopped suddenly. No one was injured. James P. Underwood, 50, of Woodridge Lane, was charged with following too closely.
  • On Aug. 24 at 5:19 p.m., police responded to North Main Street at Bunny Hop Trail where a 1988 Honda Civic had skidded into the back of a 2007 Nissan Frontier. No one was hurt but both vehicles were damaged.
  • On Aug. 25 at 11:23 a.m., a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban backed into a parked 2009 Honda Accord in a parking area just off First Street. Only minor damage was reported.
  • On Aug. 26, at 12:31 p.m., police and medical units responded to Main Street in Watkinsville, where a 1999 Ford Mustang had hit a 1997 Toyota Tacoma from behind. The 30-year-old driver of the pick-up was slightly injured. Catlin J. Bozarth, 20, of Hunting Creek Lane, was charged with following to closely.
  • On Aug. 28, at 12:25 a.m., police observed a 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera driving on the wrong side of Experiment Station Road and  conducted a traffic stop near Government Station Road. After failing sobriety testing, Elvie Elayne Cepero, 22, of Holly Hills Drive, was charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 33 calls requesting assistance from Aug. 22 to Sunday, Aug. 28, inside city limits, O'Dillon said.
