Watkinsville Police join the myriad of law enforcement agencies who have filed charges against accused truck thief Kirk Devin Bray.

In his weekly news release, Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending May 8.

  • This week Watkinsville Police filed felony theft by taking and criminal trespass charges against , 38, of Canton, in connection with the April 30 theft of a 1994 Ford box truck from LAD trucking, O'Dillon The truck was recovered  in Walton County when a deputy attempted to stop it. After striking a Walton County Sheriff’s Office car, Bray was able to get away on foot. Lauren E. Lanard, 22, of Bishop, remains in the Walton County Jail in connection with the incident. Bray was captured by the after he truck on near the Oconee Connector. He was booked into the Oconee County Jail with additional charges pending in several other counties.
  • On May 6, officers were called to the scene of a traffic accident on Harris Shoals Drive.  No one was injured and vehicles sustained minimal damage, O'Dillon reported.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 28 calls within city limits between Monday, May 2 and Sunday, May 8, O'Dillon said.
