Watkinsville PD Blotter

Officers investigated a pair of traffic accidents and charged a Bishop woman with theft by taking.

In his weekly news release, Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending May 1.

  • On April 26, officers were called to investigate a traffic accident at Experiment Station Road at North Main Street about 6:15 p.m.  There were no injures.  A 17-year-old driver was cited with following too closely, O'Dillon said.
  • On April 30, a 1994 Ford box-style truck was stolen from the parking lot of LAD Trucking, 109 Barnett Shoals Road.  Later Saturday, a Walton County Sheriff’s deputy tried to stop the truck for a traffic violation but the driver attempted to flee. After a short chase, the truck crashed into a Walton County Sheriff’s Office car. A white male passenger fled on foot. Lauren Elizabeth Lanard, 21, of Bishop, was taken into custody and booked at the Walton County Jail on a variety of traffic charges, O'Dillon said. Watkinsville Police placed a hold on Lanard and are charging her with felony theft by taking, he added. Charges are also pending on the missing passenger, O'Dillon said.
  • Amber M. Reeves, 26, of Idylwood Drive in Athens was arrested and charged with DUI on April 30, O'Dillon said.
  • A Mitsubishi Eclipse ran off an embankment and struck a tree on VFW Drive in the afternoon of May 1.  The 33-year-old driver was not injured, O'Dillon reported.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 34 calls within city limits between Monday, April 25 and Sunday, May 1, O'Dillon said.
