Watkinsville Man Reports $1,600 Worth of Fraudulent Purchases After Identity Stolen

The following information comes from the Watkinsville Police Department.

A Watkinsville man recently discovered that more than $1,600 worth of fraudulent charges had been made on his credit card.

Police Chief Lee O'Dillon said the Simonton Drive resident reported the identity theft on Sunday, after learning of the purchases made in Nashville, Tennessee.

The man's bank and credit card company are assisting police with the case.

O'Dillon also noted following incidents in his weekly news release:

  • On Saturday morning, police were called to a ongoing property line dispute between neighbors off Colham Ferry Extension.  Attorneys are reviewing survey plats and property deeds.
  • At 7:30 Sunday evening, July 14, police were called to a Cedar Drive address where a mother and her 14 year old daughter had been involved in a heated argument. It was explained to the daughter that she needed to stop being so hostile toward her mother. Both sides agreed to work together.
Watkinsville police responded to a total of 28 calls within city limits between July 8-14, 2013.
