Watkinsville Man Charged With Vehicular Homicide

The July 7, 2010, wreck took the life of a 23-month-old boy.

Wendell Hardigree, a 70-year-old Watkinsville man, was charged Thursday in the wreck on the Athens Perimeter in July, 2010 which resulted in the death of 23-month-old Tobias Hayes, according to OnlineAthens today. Georgia State Patrol S.M. Miles says that Hardigree is charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and following too closely. 

According to the report, Hardigree turned himself in Thursday and was released on a $3,200 bond.

Tiffany Hayes, the victim's mother, pulled over to the shoulder on the Oconee County section of the Athens Perimeter to allow an ambulance to pass; Hardigree rear-ended her vehicle, the Banner-Herald reports.
