UPDATE: Second Armed Robbery Suspect Captured

Athens-Clarke County Police arrested Roderick Tavarus Walter on Wednesday, Oconee authorities reported.

On Wednesday just after 7:30 p.m., the Oconee County Sheriff's Office reported that Athens-Clarke County Police captured Roderick Tavarus Walter.Β

Oconee County authorities have released the photo of a man they say is connected to the that occurred Sunday night at a residence on Alpine Court.

A man carrying a pistol allegedly entered the home around 10:40 p.m. Sunday, wrestled with a male resident, and was struck by a female resident with a baseball bat. Mark Anthony Sims, 30, of Athens, was arrested and charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and several other related charges.Β  A second male suspect managed to escape capture.

ο»ΏIn a news release Tuesday, the said Roderick Tavarus Walter, 22, of Athens, is wanted on charges of aggravated assault and armed robbery.

Two additional warrants have been issued for Matthew Moore, 27, and Sara Barfield, 30, who were residents of the home after "several pounds of marijuana and a large sum of cash and other items" were found there, the news release stated. Chief Deputy Lee Weems said about $5,500 in cash was seized. They are wanted on one count each of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

The public is asked to contact authorities with any information about the whereabouts of the wanted individuals.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper C.E. Parker is credited with obtaining information key to the case during a traffic stop, and Athens-Clarke County Police, including crime analyst David Griffeth, were also helpful, the news release said.
