Victims of Fatal Crash on Hale Road Identified
The Georgia State Patrol says a man from Athens and another from Madison died in Monday evening's accident in Oconee County.
The Georgia State Patrol has identified the two victims killed in a single-car accident on Hale Road Monday as John David Edwards, 36, of Athens, and Stephen Dave Marlow, 23, of Madison.
According to GSP spokesman Gordy Wright, Edwards was driving a 1969 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling west of Colham Ferry on Hale Road around 9 p.m. when the truck crossed the center line, left the roadway and struck a road sign. The truck continued off of the roadway and struck several trees with its front and left side, he said. Neither man was restrained by a seat belt, he said. An official with the Oconee County Sheriff's Office said they were the only two occupants of the truck.
