Two Arrested in VA in Connection With Oconee Unauthorized Debits

Authorities report there has been a break in an ongoing investigation.

New information has been released today by the about developments in the investigation into last month's surge of reports of .

About were reported at the Sheriff's Office during an 8-day period in March, Chief Investigator Lt. David Kilpatrick had said, and between $40,000-$45,000 was stolen.

Monday afternoon the Sheriff's Office said that two people are in custody in Virginia in connection with the crime.Β  The suspects allegedly "were in possession of over 200 local cloned debit cards," a post on the OCSO Facebook page stated.

An alert store clerk in Virginia who notified local authorities is being credited with the break in the case, the post said.

"The investigation is ongoing, and we are working with federal authorities both here and in Virginia," the Sheriff's Office said.
