Oconee County Sheriff's deputies Friday took three men into custody who they believe are connected to a string of property damage incidents that occurred overnight at two school campuses and several private residences.
Sheriff Scott Berry said extensive damage was done to sports fields at and and there was also significant damage caused by spray paint. Estimates of the costs of the damage are being compiled by school officials, he said.
Additional details and information about the private residences reportedly damaged were not immediately available.
By following leads, including tracking the sale of paint, deputies were able to gather enough evidence to make three arrests Friday afternoon, Berry said.
James Daniel Shirley, 18, of Monroe, Sean Thomas Berry, 18, of Watkinsville, and Iwan Andre Human, 19, of Bogart, were each booked on two counts of criminal damage to property. Additional charges will be presented to a grand jury for indictment, according to a post on the Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
