Student at Gainesville State College in Watkinsville Investigated in Fake ID Ring

Officials haven't made arrests in that case, but they just busted a group at UGA, according to reports.

Two students, one from UGA and the other enrolled at in Watkinsville, are believed to be the ringleaders of a group that distributed more than 1,000 fake IDs to students.

According to a report by The Athens Banner-Herald, the group, which has been under investigation since August 2011, charged up to $100 for counterfeit driver’s licenses from several states that college students used to get into bars.

No charges have been filed yet in that case, the Banner-Herald reports, but a separate ring at UGA has been broken up, leading to the arrest of three students.
