Speeding Car Crashes, Two Men Charged After Foot Chase
Authorities say two Walton County men Friday morning inadvertently flagged down a patrol car after leading deputies on a nearly three-hour foot chase in the area of Lane Creek and Ga. Highway 53 in Oconee County.
A late night single-car crash in Oconee County led to the early morning arrest of two Walton County men.
Around 11 p.m. Thursday, a deputy was driving along Ga. Highway 53 toward US Highway 78 when radar indicated a green Honda Accord coming in his direction was traveling at 101mph, according to a news release from the Oconee County Sheriff's Office.
The car, occupied by two men, sped past the deputy. He turned around to stop it, but found it had crashed at the intersection of Lane Creek Road and Ga Highway 53 and the men had fled the scene, the news release stated.

The deputy tracked the men on foot for a short time as additional deputies arrived and set a perimeter for a search, but the men weren't immediately located.
Nearly three hours later, the same deputy saw the men walking on the side of the road. The men apparently didn't noticed the light bar on top of the patrol car because "neither individual realized that they were actually flagging down a deputy who was actively looking for them," according to the news release.

Barryious J. Malcom, 21, of Maple Street in Monroe was charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer, speeding and striking a fire hydrant. Malcom is also wanted in Walton County on a probation violation charge, which the deputy said is the reason Malcom said he fled.
Johnny Kendra Fountain, 26, of West Creek Circle in Monroe was also charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
An arrest does not mean a conviction.
