Shoplifting Suspect Confronts Loss Prevention Officer with Box Cutter

A man left Walmart Monday with $100 worth of meat stuffed under his clothes, according to an incident report at the Oconee County Sheriff's Office.

A warrant for armed robbery has been issued for a man authorities say threatened a loss prevention officer at with a box cutter on Monday.

Raymond Roy Hunt, Jr., 46, concealed $100 worth of packaged meat under his clothes and left the store without paying around 3 p.m, according to Chief Deputy Lee Weems of the .Β  When loss prevention officers confronted him in the parking lot, Hunt displayed a box cutter in a threatening manner and climbed into a brown Honda Prelude driven by another man who had been waiting for him, Weems said. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.

Loss prevention officers were familiar with Hunt because he had previously shoplifted at Walmart stores, Weems said, adding that Hunt has a history of shoplifting with violent tendencies.

Hunt was booked into the Clarke County Jail Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. on an active warrant from that county stemming from a different shoplifting incident, the Oconee County Sheriff's Office reported and online jail records confirmed.
