Shoplifter Accused of Punching, Pepper Spraying Store Employees and More in This Week's Strange Police Stories

A Grayson man has been charged with hit and run after after crashing into a mailbox and some trees. Police tracked him down by phone and also charged him with driving under the influence, failure to report striking a fixed object and improper/erratic lane change.

In Athens, a 340-pound suspected shoplifter is accused of punching a pursuing employee in the face while dropping cans of stolen beer, the Athens Banner-Herald reports. The woman, also accused of pepper spraying another employee, told police writing the report to make it "interesting so that her arrest would make the police blotter,” which seems to have worked.
